A WTS-LV was deployed using the ROV Hercules in a recent Northern Gulf of Mexico deployment from the E/V Nautilus. The WTS-LV collected microbes from the water column at depths ranging from 400-600m, to help determine how natural hydrocarbon seepage impacts deep-water coral communities.
The coral research is being conducted by the Ecosystem Impacts of Oil and Gas Inputs to the Gulf (ECOGIG) consortium and the Ocean Exploration Trust. Many of the 14 institutions in EGOGIG participated in this project.
McLane manufactures several WTS-LV models. Contact us for information about how our profilers, samplers and flotation can help with your research needs.
