Gen3 Electronics & McLanePro:
Beginning in September of 2021, Sediment Traps are delivered with new McLane Gen3 electronics.

  • Gen3 electronics use a McLane-built Graphical User Interface (GUI), called McLanePro. McLanePro replaces the serial terminal interface (McLaneTerm) to communicate with the instrument, program a deployment, offload data and other functions.
  • Existing systems (CF2 or TT8) still require McLaneTerm. These systems cannot use McLanePro.
  • Read more about Gen3 electronics.

Note: Upgrading to Gen3 electronics requires hardware and firmware changes. Contact mclane@mclanelabs.com for details.

McLaneTerm system requirements:  Windows®  7 or higher
Note: Windows users may receive a software alert during McLaneTerm installation.  Proceed as usual to bypass this alert and install the program.

Troubleshooting USB to RS-232 Adapter that connects the computer with your McLane instrument:

Depending on the OS, some Windows PCs do not recognize the USB to RS-232 adapter (included in the instrument toolkit) that connects the computer with your McLane instrument. Download the file Windows Driver FTDI USB to RS232 .ZIP to fix this. When complete, a new COM port will be available.

  • Review the Read Me and Technical Service Bulletin.
  • Run the file CDM21228_Setup.exe before plugging in the USB to RS-232 converter on your computer.
