McLane is gearing up for the 2023 Marine Autonomy & Technology Showcase (MATS). Scheduled from November 7th to 9th, this event, hosted by National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK, promises to be a focal point for discussions on the latest advancements in marine autonomous technology and future directions. McLane’s Tim Shanahan will present a paper “Prawler Technology Transfer and First Article of Deployment”.
The Prawler, a moored wave-powered profiling instrument for the upper 500 m of the water column, was developed at NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL). Following years of field-proven deployments in varying oceanographic locations and conditions, McLane and PMEL partnered in a 2017 Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). McLane undertook the technology transfer to commercialize the Prawler and make it available to oceanographic research communities.
MATS attendees can look forward to gaining first hand insights into this technology transfer process.
In addition to the Prawler Technology Transfer presentation, McLane will exhibit at MATS. Attendees can explore McLane’s new eDNA sampler, the Robotic Cartridge Sampling Instrument (ROCSI), discuss their science needs, and learn more about McLane’s product development plans.
