April 14, 2025 (Falmouth, MA) – McLane Research Laboratories, announces the launch its newest environmental DNA (eDNA) collection instrument, the Suspended Particulate Rosette sampler (SuPR). SuPR autonomously collects 14 individual, high volume particulate samples onto 142 mm membrane filters. Depth-rated to 5,000 m, SuPR can pump up to 2000 liters per sample (depending on filter porosity). Samples are stabilized in situ following collection.
“For more than a decade, McLane has provided eDNA samplers that provide in situ collection ranging in volume, flowrate, and supported filter size.” said McLane GM Jonathan Mogul, “The SuPR sampler is the perfect complement to our eDNA product line and meets our growing customer needs for higher volume, high flowrate sampling with in situ stabilization.”
Key Features and Benefits:
- High volume sample collection– Collection targets include eDNA, chlorophyll maximum, particulate trace metals, and phytoplankton.
- Programmable sample collection– Sample collection is regulated by operator-programmed selections that include total volume, flow rate, and sample collection time.
- Sampling occurs downstream of pump– Water is pulled in through a single intake and onto the specified filter via the downstream large volume pump.
- In situ stabilization– On board storage of liquid stabilizer allows sample fixation immediately following collection.
